Largo CC: History 6 of 15

6. East Drive

East Drive has been the home of Largo CC almost since its inception, with the move taking place in 1986 moving from nearby Silverburn Park to the ground we have today.

The ground was opened officially with a match against the recently crowned Village Cup winners Freuchie, with the Largo side on the day having their ranks boosted by former England Captain Mike Denness turning out for them. Denness' presence though wouldn't be enough to give Largo victory on the day but Largo had found a home.

Over the years the ground has changed as Largo looked to upgrade their facilities. The ground began with a shed and small clubhouse which was upgraded to included changing rooms in the early 2000s when then President David Seath managed to use his work contacts to expend the facilities.

This has now been expanded in the late 2010s to included 2 new expanded changing room facilities and also have permanent improved Astro turf nets for practice. The ground has also been expanded in size with the boundaries extended in the early 2010s to make it not quite so small.

The ground though has always been known around the Scottish cricket community for its beautiful views across the Forth and for being a great batting wicket to come and play on. This though has also lead to many players having to go fetch the ball by climbing over the fence and having to avoid the famers cows.

The hope is to look to build a new pavilion on the ground as we continue to play there through our 40th anniversary year and beyond at what we believe to be anyway one of the best grounds in Scotland.
